The Great British Spring Clean (GBSC) is back for another year and events are taking place across Ealing to help residents get involved in litter picking and community clean-ups.

GBSC is an annual national campaign which encourages people to take pride in their neighbourhood and tackle rubbish and litter on streets, green spaces, alleyways and canals.

This year, the council is holding a number of clean-up events in areas of the borough that have been identified by residents as hot spots for littering and fly-tipping. Residents had the chance to vote for one local road, park and canal across the borough for this year’s GBSC.

A clean-up event is also planned by local residents in Southall on Friday 9 March at 2pm. Everyone is welcome and those wishing to attend should meet outside Chaudhry's TKC restaurant, 161 The Broadway, Southall (junction with West End Road).

Due to adverse weather conditions event was from 2nd March to 9th March 2018.

Volunteers will be split up into small groups of 3 and allocated a nearby road. All tools required will be provided by Ealing's Contractor, Amey who are supporting the event.

The event will conclude outside Southall College at 4pm next to the Road Side Incredible Edible Garden which was planted in October.

At this point, those who have helped will be offered refreshments. Various VIP's will be in attendance including the Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure. We hope that as many of you can come and join us on the day to make a positive difference to our community.

An event will be held at each of the following three chosen locations on Friday, 2 March 2018 to kick off the GBSC weekend.

• Road: Seaford Road, West Ealing - 10am to 1pm
• Park: Brent Lodge Park - 11am to 2pm
• Canal: Smiths Farm Section, Grand Union Canal - 12pm to 3pm

All residents and community groups are welcome to attend the events, and also encouraged to help make a difference by organising clean-up events in their neighbourhood.

There are also three GBSC clean-up events at the below locations on Saturday, 3 March. Residents are welcome to attend one or all of the sessions at the following times:

• South Ealing Station - 10am
• Northfields Station - 12pm
• Boston Manor Station - 2pm
