Pedestrian Killed After Lorry Collision in Southall

An 86-year-old woman has died after being hit by a lorry in High Street, Southall.

The collision occurred shortly before 2.31pm on Wednesday (30 May 2018) at the junction of the High Street and Avenue Road.

An air ambulance attended but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Temporary road closures were put in place on High Street, between Lady Margaret Road and Oakwood Avenue in in both directions. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating.

This is the fourth fatal accident to happen in that area in past few years.

In June 2017, a man died at the scene after being struck by lorry at the same junction.

There was a fatal accident in South road in November 2017 when a cyclist hit by a lorry.

In August 2016, there was another fatality on The Broadway when a female pedestrian hit by HGV.
