The 35th annual procession/programme celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Southall was held on Sunday 17th October 2021.

This is the 36th year of the event – there was no procession in 2020 due to covid restrictions.

Hundreds of Muslim men, women and children gathered for the procession. They were advised to abide by the covid safety guidelines for everyone’s safety.

This year the guest of honour was Hazrat Allama Peer Noor ul Arfeen Siddiqui (DBA), Sajjada Nasheen Darbar Nerian Sharif, Chariman of Noor TV, son of Great Islamic Shaykh Hazrat Pir Alauddin Siddiqui - DBA.

Other guests included Hazrat Allama Qari Khadim Hussain Chisti.

The procession started from the Jamia mosque in Townsend Road after the Zohr prayers (1:30 pm). It proceeded along The Broadway, South Road, Beaconsfield Road and returned to the Jamia mosque in Townsend Road.

Fresh food was served near the start of the processions and along the procession route. One such spot is always the Chaudhry’s TKC restaurant on the Broadway. Other individuals also gave out food at several spots along the path.

At the end of the procession there was a short speech and prayers outside, before the Asr prayers inside the mosque.

The procession and event celebrates the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, who was sent as mercy for the whole of mankind. Not all Muslim celebrate birthdays especially those with links to Saudia Arabia.

If you can celebrate other events, why not the Milad/birth of the Prophet?
