Southall Sports Day

Thu 14 Jul 2016
On the 9th of June Southall Community Alliance hosted its annual Sports Day at the Spikesbridge Park in Southall.

Although a football tournament was the main focus, there was plenty of activity off the pitch for those not playing, including Tug of War, Park Run running activities, Pungra Fit, Children activities, henna, Hair braiding, complimentary massage and Facials.

The Football Tournament attracted a range of teams representing different organisations, groups and residents including Southall Police, Ealing CVS, Ealing CCG, Somali Advice and Development Centre and St James to name a few.

With great weather and plenty of activity at the Spikesbridge Site the day provided residents an opportunity to come out of their houses and learn more about the benefits of physical activity, how to maintain healthy Lifestyles, risk factors for Diabetes and how to reduce these.

We were lucky enough to also have a visit from the Penny Appeal Bus which is doing outstanding work up and down the country providing hot meals and support to people in need either through economic difficulties or due to natural disasters.

A huge thank you to our sponsors for the Day Ealing CCG and St James.

The community sports day takes place on 9th July at Spikes Bridge Park, West Avenue UB1 2AP from 10am to 4pm.

The Southall Community Alliance was established in December 2000 and is an umbrella network of 100+, mainly small and new, community groups working in Southall.
