Have Your Say: New Bus Lanes on Lady Margaret and Ruislip Roads
Wed 16 Oct 2024
The proposed changes aim to make public transport more efficient while improving road safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.
The proposal includes:
- A northbound bus lane on Lady Margaret Road, operating between 7 am and 7 pm, from Balmoral Drive to Ruislip Road.
- A two-way protected cycle lane on the eastern side of Lady Margaret Road, running from Ruislip Road to Hillside Road.
- Upgrades to zebra crossings, making them parallel crossings for both pedestrians and cyclists.
- Minor adjustments to footways to accommodate cyclists entering the new lanes.
Potential Impact:
To create space for the bus and cycle lanes, several parking spaces will need to be removed, including:
- 12 parking spaces and 4 electric vehicle spaces near Greenford High School./LI>
- 10 spaces between Greenford High School and Neal Avenue.
- Another 10 spaces between Neal Avenue and Hillside Road, along with one disabled parking space, which will be relocated.
Benefits:
- Faster northbound bus journey times during peak hours by bypassing traffic congestion.
- Improved safety for cyclists with dedicated lanes.
- The proposals align with sustainable transport goals set by the Mayor of London and Ealing Council.
