Save Southall Youth Centre protest

Southall groups and residents joined in a collective protest outside Ealing Town Hall about the proposed closure of the Southall Youth Centre also known as the Young Adult Centre on Park View Road, Southall.

The protest started at 5pm on Tuesday 26 July 2022 on the footsteps of Ealing Town Hall. It continued until the start of the full Ealing Council meeting inside at 7pm.

Ealing Council are proposing closure of the YAC and instead building 60 flats on the site.

Southall Community Alliance and many other partners are involved in the Southall Resists network and are all strongly opposed to any proposals to close or demolish the centre.

With a very large youth population in Southall, Southall need more specific facilities for young people and not less.

Residents from Park View Road and other Southall locations came and supported the protest.

Southall is awash with houses but only has one Young Adult Centre. These residents were standing with the young people of Southall.

Local councillors were approached about the matter, as residents want to prevent the YAC from being demolished and preserved for local young people.
