Lack of education at Villiers High School

Sun 13 Feb 2011
Pupils at Villiers High School in Southall are being denied education after they protested at the sacking of a respected teacher earlier in the week.

This was not the first attempt to sack him. Recently most of Villiers teaching staff went on strike over imposed changes and “bullying” by the Head teacher.

There are 2 more strike days planned for Tuesday and Wednesday next week over ongoing issues.

Two full academic years were denied education by the school for 3 consecutive days this week. Year 10 and 11 were only allowed to attend on separate day.

Even then they were required to produce a note from their parents explicitly stating that "My child is attending school today and will not participate in any protests or disruptive behavior" to attend school.

Notes along the lines of “My child is attending school as normal today” were not accepted.

Parents, students, ex-staff and ex-students, community leaders were invited to attend a meeting at the Chaudhry’s TKC restaurant on Sunday at 4 pm. The venue was later changed to the RamGharia hall next door.

Many teachers including the sacked Mr Virdee attended the meeting.
