The member for Southall spoke to year 10 and sixth former students about youth engagement in politics on Monday (23 May 2016).

He discussed current political events including the EU referendum and took part in a Q&A session.

Mr Sharma, whose children attended Villiers, said: "It was great to see the interest students took in current events, like the EU Referendum, and to speak with them about the issues that matter to them."

"I was very impressed with the students at Villiers High School; they were bright, passionate and eager to find solutions to the problems they see today.

The MP was invited to the school by pupil Abdulhamid Salah.

The year 10 pupil said: "I think it’s really important for the younger generation to get involved in their local community

"This visit has inspired me take what we have learned about citizenship and rights outside the school and into the wider community - to change society for the better."

Former councillor Rahel Bokth, who is head of Citizenship at the school, expressed his pride in pupils.

"This visit was completely pupil led. It was Abdulhamid who made contact with his local MP and convinced him to visit the school to discuss democracy.

"It gives the teachers and staff great pride that pupils at this school are serious wanting to build a better society."
