Southall fly-tippers in for a shock

Thu 13 Oct 2016
Since the change to fortnightly rubbish collection there has been a lot of fly-tipping all over the Borough of Ealing, especially Southall.

Most of the residents were disgusted by what they saw on the streets and the apparent lack of action being taken by the Council. All they could see was rubbish on the streets.

Ealing Council got tougher by increasing the fines to £400. They have now got four fly-tipping enforcement teams with vans to tackle and deter fly-tipping.

This is FULLY financed by the £400 Fixed Penalty Notices they will be issuing.

A lot of the fly-tipping spots are around trees. You see one bag next to it and within hours a lot more will appear. Bed bases and mattresses have also started to be dumped on the street.

Why do these selfish individuals continue to dump near their properties? It is not as simple as that. Some of it due to them but most of it is due to people going and dumping in other streets. People have ACTUALLY been caught doing this in Clarence Street.

Some of these people are simply ignorant. Some believe the Council will JUST collect it. What they don’t see is the rubbish tip it creates and the £400 fines that are coming their way.

The main task of the four SEPARATE fly-tipping enforcement teams is to IDENTIFY who the fly-tippers are. All the rubbish they collect is from fly-tippers.

Earlier this month the Council announced that the fly-tips were traced back to 1124 addresses and the council is now in the process of issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) to those people.

Southall is split into 5 wards. Last Thursday, we were informed 534 Fixed Penalty Notices were for the Southall Green ward ALONE. There could be more than one Fixed Penalty Notices for each address. The more times you dump, the more Fixed Penalty Notices you are likely to get.

The individuals have been identified but have they received any letters containing the fines. This could see resident receiving several fines before they realise their mistakes.

The Southall Broadway area gets a lot of fly-tipping. So, they will be getting similar treatment.

Here is a partial list of the Fixed Penalty Notices per street in the Southall Green ward area.
