In one incident in Greenford the victim, a 59 year old female was pushed to the ground from behind to see the suspect standing above her. The suspect then snatched her necklace from her before running away.

As a result plain clothes police officers were tasked to patrol the locations where the offences were taking place and on the 18th July officers identified two males acting suspiciously in the area.

The suspects were observed walking up behind a lone female and violently pushing her to the ground. Officers ran towards the suspects they made off with the victims necklace. They caught and detained the suspects a short distance from the incident and arrested them for robbery.

The suspects were identified as 33 year old Amit Sharmar from Devon and 32 year old Gurinderjit Singh of no fixed address.

After an extensive investigation of the 9 offences by Acton CID and with the ongoing support of the victims, the two suspects were charged with all of the robberies and remanded in custody to attend Isleworth Crown Court.

Sharma pleaded guilty to only 4 of the offences but was found guilty of an additional 3, receiving 8 years in prison and a deportation order for when he is released. While Singh pleaded guilty to only 1 robbery, he was found guilty of an additional 4 and handling stolen goods for which he received a 7 year prison sentence.

Detective Chief Inspector Livesey of Acton CID said, "Having both of these males off of the streets of Ealing is a great result for which I would like to thank all of the victims for their courage in coming forward and supporting the police in our investigation. They should be incredibly proud that they have helped put these two violent and callous individuals behind bars."
