Youth careers fair for 16-30 year olds in Ealing

Time: 10am - 6 pm
Young people aged 16 to 30 are invited to a virtual careers fair in February 2022 to meet potential employers in Ealing and to discover jobs and training opportunities.
The event will take place on Wednesday 9 February 2022 to support National Apprenticeship Week and will be held on Microsoft Teams, with sessions held throughout the day.
Workshops and inspirational talks from employers and organisations have been arranged to help young people prepare to enter the world of employment.
Young people interested in apprenticeship opportunities should book their place for two virtual workshops that will be held between 10am to 11am and from 5pm to 6pm.
Candidates will get a chance to meet Ealing Council’s apprenticeship team and speak to some of our apprentices to find out how an apprenticeship can help them forge or change their career path.
The apprenticeship team will advise what skills local employers are looking for, identify where the growth sectors and industries are and the next steps to take to begin an apprenticeship.
Those looking for employment in the construction sector can speak to representatives from SCS Railways who will share their experiences and pathways of working in the industry. SCS Railways Joint Venture is overseeing the HS2 project in Northolt and building a variety of structures to connect the final 26.4km of railway between the station and Euston.
Two workshops on achieving English and maths functional skills will be delivered by University of West London and will be held late morning and early afternoon. Functional skills are equivalent to a GCSE Grade C and are an important qualification to have when applying for jobs and further study.
Representatives from Brentford Football Club will be on hand to discuss traineeship opportunities for 16-19 year olds, including work placements and employability and vocational qualifications with the Premier League club.
From 12pm onwards, a variety of workshops have been arranged to aid job searchers to improve their chances to securing work such as CV and cover letter writing skills, how to prepare for interviews and tips on boosting your employability online.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for decent living incomes said: "Young people have been one of the hardest hit groups during this pandemic, with getting into your first job more difficult than ever before."

"We’re adding more sessions in the run up to the event, so please keep checking the website."
