Date: Sun 28 Apr 2024Time: 6 pm
April 22nd is Earth Day, serving as a poignant reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. It calls upon us to unite and actively participate in safeguarding our planet for a healthier and more promising tomorrow.
To celebrate Earth Day this year, join us from 5pm on Sunday, April 28th, for a screening of The Seeds of Vandana Shiva. This inspiring film follows the journey of an Indian activist confronting corporate industrial agriculture and GMO seed production. More information describing Vandana Shiva is available on the movie’s website here.
"Vandana Shiva brought her scientific expertise and Gandhian principles of non-violent resistance to the struggles of poor Indian villagers whose livelihoods were being crushed by corporate capitalism. She has become a formidable opponent to those corporations whose drive for privatization and profit are destroying the environment and changing the climate."
"Hers is the remarkable and unlikely story of a girl who trekked from highland cabin to cabin alongside her father, tended a garden alongside her mother, and passionately pursued an education that freed her from the caste and gender constraints of traditional Indian society"
The film will be shown at Holy Trinity Church Hall, High St, Southall UB1 3HH. The venue is on the corner of Park View Rd opposite the Uxbridge Rd entrance to Southall Park.
Free admission, donations welcome.
