An exciting series from The Sher Jung Foundation showcasing talented writers - come along to our second event of the series.
Continuing our series is the fantastic Kavita Puri. With her extensive experience as a producer and editor at the BBC, Kavita has contributed to notable programs like BBC Newsnight and Burning Sun, the latter as a co-creator.
You can catch Kavita hosting shows on BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service, including the insightful weekly current affairs program, The Inquiry. She is the creator, writer, and presenter of Three Million on BBC Sounds.
In 2017, Kavita wrote and presented the groundbreaking three-part series, Partition Voices, aired on Radio 4, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the partition of India. This exceptional work earned her The Royal Historical Society’s esteemed Best Radio and Podcast prize and its overall Public History Prize.
In 2019, she expanded on the documentary's impact by publishing the book "Partition Voices: Untold British Stories."
Kavita is the creator of Radio 4’s "Three Pounds in My Pocket," a program she both writes and hosts. This groundbreaking series holds the distinction of being the first to document the social history of South Asians in post-war Britain.
The event will be held upstairs at Parkside Yards Southall, located in The Green Quarter. Tickets are priced at £10 and include refreshments. The event will commence promptly at 6:30 pm. The venue is conveniently situated within a 10-minute walk from Southall Station on the Elizabeth Line, and it's also accessible via multiple bus routes.
