Time: 2 pm - 4 pm
Join us for a walk through Southall's history, filled with local stories and secrets.
Explore the brickfields, learn about migration, witness the community's unity against racism, and so much more.
Take a walk through Southall and discover the stories of ordinary people who came to live and work here. Learn about the events following the deaths of Gurdip Singh Chaggar in 1976 and Blair Peach in 1979, and how these tragedies brought the community together.
"It was a rare opportunity to learn something of Southall’s extraordinary origins and history right up to the present day. Oliver has assembled some fascinating facts and details about the town. For those (like me) who were born and raised in this community it was an eye opener."
"I would highly recommend the walk to anyone who is curious to learn more about how Southall evolved into the thriving multi cultural community it is today." - Joe S.
The Unofficial History Walks will take place on Tuesday 4 June 2024 and Sunday 16 June 2024.
You must book to join the tour on Eventbrite.
Meeting point: The Dominion Centre and walk through the streets to Southall Town Hall, stopping at various locations along the way to hear stories about the significant events that took place.
