Date: Wed 17 Jul 2024
Time: 11 am - 1 pm
Description:
An exciting series from The Sher Jung Foundation showcasing talented writers - come along to our fourth event of the series.

Join us for our upcoming Author Talks event on 7th July 2024 featuring Jassa Ahluwalia.

Jassa is a multifaceted talent: an actor, writer, presenter, and filmmaker. He gained recognition for his role as 'Rocky' in the BBC series Some Girls and as the presenter of the Disney Junior show Art Attack. Additionally, he starred alongside Martin Sheen in the BBC One film The Whale. In 2013, Jassa produced Modern Man, a short film directed by Sebastian Solberg, which narrates the story of an accidental time-traveling cave-woman.

Jassa made a remarkable debut as a writer-director with his short film Heart's Ease, which garnered two Best Film awards during its festival circuit and was officially selected at both the San Diego International Film Festival and the BAFTA-qualifying London Short Film Festival.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jassa has been a vocal advocate for his mixed Punjabi and English heritage. In 2019, he created the viral hashtag #BothNotHalf, sparking a widespread conversation about mixed identity. This led to a TEDx Talk at TEDxChandigarh in 2020.

In May 2024, Jassa expanded on these themes with the release of his book Both Not Half, which delves into identity issues and explores the historical roots of modern mixed identities.
