The annual Southall Nagar Kirtan (procession) celebrating the Parkash Utsav (Birthday) of Guru Nanak - 555th anniversary.
The procession starts from the Guru Nanak Road Gurdwara (Havelock Road Gurdwara) and finishes at the Park Avenue Gurdwara.
The procession is supposed to start at 11am but usually starts at 12 noon. It proceeds along King Street – past Southall Train Station - South Road – High Street – Green Drive – finishing at the Park Avenue Gurdwara.
Thousands of Sikhs will attend or parade through the streets of Southall. The roads and pavements along the route, especially South Road, are usually fully packed with people. It is extremely difficult to move in any direction. Be patient and follow the procession.
Free food stalls all along the procession route.
South Road, The Green and King Street will most likely be closed from 11am to 5 pm.
Road closures will begin:
from 8.30am on and around Guru Nanak Road, King Street, South Road And Park Avenue
From 2pm Uxbridge Road (Southall Broadway)
The Police advise against travelling through Southall on such occasions.
There is always congestion on all roads around the Broadway and along the procession route.
