Taking up Space: Women and Protest in the Indian Diaspora
Start Date: Fri 22 Nov 2024End Date: Sun 24 Nov 2024
Time: 10 am - 7 pm
The Platform for Indian Democracy invites you to "Taking Up Space: Women and Protest in the Indian Diaspora", an event curated by Megan Drabble with support from The Monitoring Group.
Join us at OPEN Southall Arts Centre for an immersive exhibition delving into the written and oral histories of dissent within the British Indian diaspora.
Listen to the voices of women from Independent India as they share powerful personal stories of protest. Experience the spirit of Delhi’s 101-day demonstration against the Citizenship Amendment Act, and join in dances and chants that have shaped women’s resistance across the diaspora. Step into a rich history of dissent, protest, and transformative change.
As you engage with these powerful histories, we hope you’ll feel inspired to carry their legacy forward—taking up space in your communities and challenging injustices around you. You’ll have the opportunity to share your reflections, contribute your own ideas to the exhibition, and spark meaningful conversations with those around you.
