Southall Nagar Kirtan 2025
Date: Sun 02 Nov 2025Time: 10:00 am
The annual Southall Nagar Kirtan (procession) celebrating the Parkash Utsav (Birthday) of Guru Nanak - 556th anniversary.
The procession will begin at Park Avenue Gurdwara and conclude at Guru Nanak Road Gurdwara (Havelock Road Gurdwara). This year, the start and finish points have been reversed.
The revised route is expected to allow roads to reopen earlier than in previous years, helping to reduce disruption for local residents.
The procession is scheduled to begin at 10am, though it often starts a little later. It proceeds along Green Drive, Uxbridge Road, South Road (passing Southall Train Station), The Green, and King Street, before finishing at the Guru Nanak Road Gurdwara.
This annual religious procession is one of the most important events in the Sikh calendar, symbolising unity, devotion, and community spirit.
The Nagar Kirtan features a colourful parade with devotional hymns, floats, and community gatherings — celebrating Sikh culture and inclusivity.
Thousands of devotees and visitors line the streets of Southall to witness the procession. Roads and pavements along the route — particularly South Road — become very crowded, so attendees are encouraged to stay patient and move with the flow of the procession
Free food stalls will be available all along the procession route, offering traditional dishes and refreshments to everyone taking part.
Road Closures:
Road closures along the procession route will begin from 8:00 am. Streets will reopen gradually once the procession has passed and it is safe for traffic to resume.
Expected Disruptions:
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Park Avenue (junction with Uxbridge Road) to Green Drive
12:00 pm – 6:00 pm: South Road, including roads leading up to Guru Nanak Road
To ensure safety and meet local authority requirements, road closures will remain in place for the duration of the event. We encourage all residents and visitors to plan journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible.
The Police advise against travelling through Southall on such occasions.
There is always congestion on all roads around the Broadway and along the procession route.
Parking Advisory:
Strict parking restrictions will be enforced along the procession route. Any vehicles left on affected roads may be towed or relocated to ensure the safe and smooth passage of the Nagar Kirtan. Residents are strongly advised to move their vehicles in advance and use alternative parking areas before the event begins.
We appreciate your support, consideration, and patience during this special occasion.
The procession route is shown below.
The 2-mile walk typically takes 40 minutes, but the procession takes approximately 5 hours.
