As much as you love your teenager, sometimes it's hard to see things from their point of view. If you are a parent of 11-16 year-olds, come to this free one-day conference and learn how you can tackle the difficult situations you may be facing.
You will have the opportunity to participate in a number of workshops covering topics including:
- encouraging healthy eating
- dealing with challenging behaviour and encouraging positive behaviour
- discussing sex and sexuality
- problem solving and negotiating skills
- managing feelings
- drug awareness
- staying safe - discussing gang culture and crime
- coping with the transition from primary to secondary school
- get professional advice
- find out what resources are available locally
- exchange experiences with other parents
TV’s Lorrine Marer will deliver the opening address highlighting the positive strategies parents can use, to engage more effectively with their teenagers. As well as appearing on GMTV and The Wright Stuff, Lorrine has been the leading figure in Channel Five's The Teen Tamer and Families Behaving Badly.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided as well as a courtesy minibus to help parents with transport issues.
