Description:
Trafalgar Square will host celebrations to mark Diwali, the Festival of Light, on Sunday 19 October 2008. The celebrations will see the square transformed by magical light displays, music and dance performances.

Entry free - all welcome

Diwali on the Square, a wonderful day for all the family, will start at 3pm with traditional Indian garba folk dancing plus sari wearing demonstrations. There will be many stalls open from noon with tasty vegetarian food, children's crafts corner, Diwali exhibition, henna painting and much more.

The stage show has the following themes:

• 4.15pm - 4.45pm: Opening Ceremony with lamp lighting and Diwali songs.
• 4.45pm - 6.45pm: Music and Dance from all over India
• 6.45pm – 7.30pm: Presentation by Star with special guest artists.
• 7.30pm – 8pm: Aarti (traditional prayers and singing with lamps) and finale.
