Mehfil 'Shab-e-Miraj-un-Nabi' in Southall

Sat 11 Aug 2007
Friday was very important date for Muslims in Southall and the rest of the world. It was 'Shab-e-Miraj-un-Nabi' (Night of Ascension to the Heaven).

Several hundreds Muslims gathered in The Jamia Mosque on Townsend Road, Southall, to participate in the regular monthly event, which on this occasion was to mark the Prophet Mohammed’s heavenly journey.

This was a long programme which started at 7pm and went on after midnight and included 3 of the daily prayers of Asr, Maghrib and Isha as well as the special Nafl payers for this particular occasion.

The mosque was fully packed for the second in the same day, the earlier occasion being the Friday (Juma) prayers.

On Saturday, The AbuBakr mosque on the Southall Broadway will be celebrating the same event. The speakers will include the Honourable Hazrat Qari Tayib Abbasi (Urdu) and Imam Asjad ibn Abdus-Samad (English).

The event starts after the Maghrib prayers. All are invited to participate and refreshments will be provided.
