On Saturday, Southall celebrated 60 years of Pakistan Independence at the Southall Community Centre. Entry to the event was by invitation only.

The event was organised by the Young Fellows Association of UK (YFA), Pakistan Workers Association (PWA) and the Social welfare Society for Women (SWSM).

The guests included:

• Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mrs Hazel Ware
• Mayor of Waltham Forest, Councillor Liaquat Ali
• Councillors from all over London
• Representatives from the Pakistan High Commission
• Representatives from the Local mosques
• Representatives of the Metropolitan Police - Ealing

The main guest MP Shahid Malik, Minister for International Development, was unable to make it to the event, which was attended by over 200 people.
