Ex Liverpool F.C. Players to appear at West London event
Sat 24 Aug 2019They will be discussing their experiences at the six-time European cup winning club. Audience members will have the opportunity to pose questions to the ensemble panel.
Event promoter Priscilla Mensah said "I felt it was important for the London based supporters of the club to have a chance to a special event celebrating the history of Liverpool Football Club."
"Growing up in Acton, West London during the early 1980s, many of the black and brown people supported Liverpool F.C. I think the fear of racist violence prevalent at the London football clubs at that time diverted their interest to Liverpool F.C."
The event will share the stories of Howard Gayle, the first black footballer signing for the club in 1977, John Barnes MBE - who signed for Liverpool F.C. in 1987 - and Emile Heskey, whose deal in 2000 was a club record.
The discussion will be set within the historical context and include the challenges that they faced and overcame.
All tickets purchased will be automatically placed into a prize draw for a pair of Liverpool home match tickets.
Doors open at 6pm and show starts at 7.30 p.m.
Howard will be signing copies of his book prior to the event.
