Polling cards arriving soon

Sat 16 Nov 2019
Polling cards have started to be delivered to Southall residents this weekend (16 and 17 November), as the borough prepares for the 2019 General Election.

The salmon-coloured cards are being sent to all eligible registered voters in the borough of Ealing. They have details of the local polling station and times of polling for the General Election, which is on Thursday, 12 December 2019.

For those with postal votes, a postal poll card will be sent which will include information about those arrangements that are in place.

British, Commonwealth and Irish citizens aged 18 or over are eligible to vote. As in previous years, EU citizens resident in the UK are not eligible to vote in general elections and will not receive a polling card.

Residents who have changed address since last voting, or who are registering for the first time, should go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote where they will be asked for their name, address, date of birth and national insurance number. People without access to the internet can request a paper form from the elections team.

Eligible voters who don’t receive their polling cards by Wednesday 20 November 2019 should check they are registered by contacting the Ealing Council elections team on 020 8825 7777. People have until Tuesday, 26 November to register to vote. Anyone who wishes to apply to vote by post or to change an existing postal vote must do so by 5pm on the same day, Tuesday, 26 November.

Paul Najsarek, chief executive of Ealing Council and acting returning officer, said: "Polling cards are being delivered to people who are registered and eligible to vote, so please look out for them over the coming week. If you don’t receive yours then you will need to make sure you are registered. This is quick and easy to do and will give you the opportunity to cast your vote for the next MP to represent your area. When the card arrives, please check your polling station and keep it in a safe place until Thursday, 12 December."

"People can vote without their polling card, but it makes it quicker and easier for polling station staff on the day if you bring them with you. People that are registered to vote but whose polling card doesn’t arrive by Wednesday 20 November, should check if they are registered by contacting our team on 020 8825 7777"
