Residents are being asked their views on a wide range of issues to help Ealing Council formulate its strategies and policies for future planning and development in the borough.

Their comments will be used by the Council to develop its Local Development Framework (LDF) – the blueprint for the borough for the next 10-15 years. Consultation on the LDF, which involves a series of public meetings, runs from 7 September – 19 October. There will also be a consultation document available on the Council’s website and in libraries.

The first meeting is on 5 September at Ealing Town Hall and is being co-hosted by the Council, Ealing Civic Society and Ealing Community Network.

The type of questions the Council wants to ask residents are:

• where should new housing should be located?
• where should jobs be focused?
• what new transport infrastructure does Ealing need?
• what community facilities are needed?
• how can Ealing’s open spaces be protected?
• how can nature conservation be planned for?

Councillor John Cowing, Deputy Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “Ealing is a borough of huge potential and there are a number of exciting regeneration opportunities in the pipeline which will bear fruit in the next 10-15 years.

“The Council is leading the regeneration drive but we have to make sure our policies will ensure this growth is sustainable and sensitive to the environment.

“The LDF is hugely important and will impact in some way on every resident. It is simply vital they take part in the consultation and have their say.”

The first LDF consultation meeting is on 5 September, at the Liz Cantell Room, Ealing Town Hall, at 6.30pm. Senior officers from various Council departments will be there, including planning and regeneration. There will also be an update on the latest plans for Ealing Town Centre.

There will also be other meetings, including ones at St Mary’s Hall, The Mount, Acton, on 20 September at 7pm and Dormers Wells Community Centre, Dormers Wells Lane on 26 September at 6pm.
