Ealing Council fully committed to LTNs where supported by residents
Sat 21 Aug 2021The council received around 22,000 responses on its consultation on the future of Ealing’s low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) and most resident do NOT support them.
The recent consultation on the borough’s LTNs has shown resident do NOT support making seven of the 9 LTNs permanent. They want them removed NOW. However, a decision cannot yet be taken on these schemes.
The council will make a final decision on them in the near future as it needs to justify the removal due to recently introduced government guidance.
These LTNs will remain in place and subject to ANPR enforcement until any final decision is made, even though the signs are NOT prominently display and unsuspecting users could be given a warning instead of a fine. These decisions are likely to be made by the council’s cabinet next month.
A majority of residents living within two proposed LTNs, Adrienne Avenue in Greenford and the proposed Deans Road and Montague Avenue in Hanwell, support having these schemes made permanent.
Councillor Peter Mason, leader of Ealing Council:
"We cannot yet make any decisions on LTNs that did not enjoy the support of a majority of residents living in them, as the government’s guidance on LTNs like Ealing’s suddenly changed on 31 July."
Further details of the consultation results for the borough’s LTNs can be viewed on Ealng Council’s website.
