Southall student killed by electric shock on building site
Mon 17 Jan 2022Princedeep Singh, 21, attended the University of Greenwich and came from India on a student visa.
He received a severe electric shock while working on a building site in Southall on 17 December 2021.
He died within 30 minutes of the incident in Hillingdon Hospital.
A GoFundMe was organised to help raise funds to return his body to his family in Pilibhit, India.
The organiser, Gulzar Singh, wrote: "I am writing to you today to let you know about the loss of a 21 year old Princedeep Singh from Southall(UK)."
"Princedeep Singh got electric shock while working on a building site and sadly died in hospital within 30 minutes. He came from India to the UK last year on a student visa."
"Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time."
A date for the full inquest has not been set.
The GoFundMe page has raised over £5,000 and now reads “We have now sent Princedeep's body to India and all new donation will go to support his family back in India.”
If he was on a student visa, why was he working on a building site?
If you're studying in the UK as an international student, you're allowed to work for up to 20 hours maximum per week during term-time and full-time during holiday breaks.
International students have to pay extortionate fees to study in the UK and have to work to partly cover their costs.
