London Challenge Poverty Week in Southall 2022

The event was opened by the Mayor Councillor Mohinder Midha and Councillor Jasbir Anand. They had some excellent speakers during the week.
Each day had a different theme and they started on Monday 17th discussing Cost of Living followed by Housing and Homelessness on Tuesday.
Kamaljeet Sembhi, their antipoverty support officer, arranged the week of activity.
The theme of the third day was Poverty and Health.
The theme of the fourth day was Poverty, Discrimination and Dignity and they had some quality discussion about these issues.
The excellent speakers included: Sharmarke Diriye (GOSAD), India Herbing (St Mungos), Satvir Birk (Contact Ealing) and Cllr Varlene Alexander (LBE).
The theme of the fifth day was Income and Social Security. We heard from a number of speakers about the benefits, grants and discretionary payments that are available to help people facing hardships.
The speakers for the day were Alka, Sonia and Louise who made comprehensive contributions.
