Remembrance Sunday in Southall 2022
Fri 11 Nov 2022Remembrance Sunday events also take place across the borough on Sunday, 13 November 2022.
Residents will gather at 10.30am. These will include local councillors, business leaders, the police, fire and ambulance services, schools and the young and the old.
The service is usually led by Revd Canon Mark Poulson, associate vicar of St John’s Church, Southall.
A 2 minute silence will be observed at 11am to remember those who died.
The previous Mayor of Ealing, Munir Ahmed, will lay the first wreath at the Southall War Memorial. Then there will be opportunity for everyone present to lay their wreath to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Afterwards everyone is invited back to the nearby St John’s Church on Church Avenue for a short civic service followed by refreshments for everyone.

Recent Mayor Cllr Munir Ahmed tweeted: "Honour to lay wreath at Southall on behalf of Ealing (Council) with Virendra Sharma MP and others. We will remember them."
Ealing Southall MP Virendra Sharma tweeted: "It was my honour to attend the Remembrance Sunday service at the Southall War Memorial today, remembering all those who fought for us. It was lovely to see so many, including the (ex) Mayor of Ealing, paying their respects. Thank you to all those who came."
