The SCA Southall Community Awards 2022

The 2022 SCA Southall Community Awards evening took place at Featherstone High School on Saturday 3rd December 2022.

This was the second annual awards evening organised by the Southall Community Alliance (SCA) and it was a full house as many individuals, teams and groups were nominated for the community awards.

The evening began with some opening remarks by Virendra Sharma MP and Councillor Jasbir Anand, Ealing Council’s Cabinet member for thriving communities.

The Award categories were:

  • Southall’s Best
  • Young Southall
  • Team of the Year
  • Community Business
  • Leadership and Inspiration

There were a number of outstanding awards winners including:

  • Havelock Primary School pupils
  • Southall Black Sisters
  • Heston Lions Club
  • Bhushan Kumar Sharma
  • Cllr John Martin
  • Asian Community Concern
  • Southall Park Run team
  • Havelock ARP team
  • DICE NHS team
and many other worthy awards winners

The evening was superbly hosted by Kamaljeet Sembhi and awards were handed out by Virendra Sharma MP, Evelyn Gloyn, Monica Jaswal, Cllr Jasbir Anand and Harsev Bains, the Chair of SCA.

A special legacy award was given to recognise the work and contribution of Ajit Singh Rai in Southall over the decades. It was wonderful that Mr Rai‘s family including his wife were able to attend the event and collect his award.

The evening concluded with a raffle draw and Mehak Travel Club kindly donated five holidays as the prizes.

At the end of the nigh there was some delicious food that was served with great organisation by their wonderful colleagues from the Voice of Women organisation. Many thanks to Surinder Kenth and all the hard-working Voice of Women volunteers.

The awards evening was another great success made possible by the hard work of the Southall Community Alliance staff, trustees and supporters

Don’t forget to mention how many local councillors were present. Southall has 16 councillors. Apart from the Mayor of Ealing, Cllr Mohinder Midha, there was Cll Jasbir Anand, Cllr John Martin and Cllr Surinder Kaur Jassal. That is a 25% turnout.
