Have your say in shaping the borough’s future

Tue 27 Dec 2022
Take the opportunity to have your say on how the borough of Ealing is shaped during the next 15 years.

The Shaping Ealing survey and engagement exercise was carried out between November 2021 and May 2022. It consisted of easy to complete online survey and a series of community events and conversations.

The survey results and other responses were analysed and have helped Ealing Council officers to draft a new Local Plan that will guide development and shape planning decisions about homes, infrastructure, climate change, jobs, and address health and inequalities in the borough.

The plan also shows what needs to be protected, conserved or enhanced such as green spaces, canals, heritage assets, shopping areas and employment space.

For these reasons, the Local Plan is a crucial document for the future of our area.

However, the collection of documents that make up the ‘Local Plan’ are technical and complex as they cross-reference to sections in other documents and evidence.

Consequently, Ealing Council’s regeneration and community engagement teams have been working together to find ways to make the next phase of consultation on the draft new Local Plan, as meaningful as possible for residents and some posters in different languages will be used to support this.

The draft Local Plan consultation runs from 30 November 2022 to 25 January 2023. Once the consultation has closed, the feedback will be used to inform a revised version of the plan.

You can find the Southall town plan section under Chapter 4 by using this link: New Local Plan (Regulation 18) consultation documents | Ealing Council. The Southall section starts at page 387 (= slide 317).

There are six ways in which you can comment on the draft new Local Plan to share your views.
