Food support for needy households in Southall

Mon 30 Jan 2023
Southall Community Alliance was proud to work in partnership with two local schools in Southall to provide food support for needy households.

The current cost of living crisis, with spiralling prices, is causing great distress to many of Ealing‘s most vulnerable households.

One of the ways in which the Southall Community Alliance are responding in Southall is to use funding provided by Ealing Council’s Household Support Grant to purchase and distribute food to those very households facing hardship.

Firstly, they worked in partnership with North Primary School on Meadow Road, Southall, to provide food support for needy households.

They are grateful to Nicola Forster, the head at North Primary and Serena Burke for all the arrangements.

And a special thanks to Sukh from Sira’s in Hayes who provided and delivered the food items, which will be used to help approximately 50 families.

They also provided two pallets of food to Dormers Wells High School on Dormers Wells Lane, Southall, for 100 families.

They thanked the excellent staff who helped them including Stacy Fleary and Jas Rana.

They hope the parcels of rice, sugar oil, lentils, pasta, tinned foods etc will go some way to helping families facing food hardship.

Once again, the colleagues from Sira’s in Hayes delivered the food.

Dormers Wells High School said: "We are currently in the process of packing it up for the families in school. A wonderful gesture from Janpal and the team."

Southall Community is an independent charitable organisation and their offices are in Southall Town Hall.
