Southall is surrounded by numerous large supermarkets, however, within Southall itself, there are only two significant supermarkets - Iceland and Lidl.

Regrettably, Lidl, which is one of the most convenient, busy, and affordably priced supermarkets, is scheduled to close its doors on 30th April 2023.

Significant developments have occurred in front of the Lidl store, and even more extensive developments are underway adjacent to the store.

The Lidl employees, like the general public, are uninformed about the reasons behind the closure. Is the store's shutdown connected to the adjacent developments, or did the freeholder opt not to renew the lease?

The employees were alerted to the possibility of the store's closure approximately two months ago. That is when rumours about it began circulating. However, confirmation of the closure only came in the last one or two weeks.

While the workers will be offered employment at nearby stores, this will entail additional travel for them. Furthermore, there is no assurance that their hours will remain the same, or that they may have to work reduced hours.
