Foul mouthed human dogs barking around Southall Broadway

Wed 03 May 2023
Having foul mouthed human dogs barking around Southall Broadway for hours around midnight is a common occurrence for the long-suffering residents.

There was another night of foul mouthed human dogs (and bitches) barking on Abbotts Road at the junction with Southall Broadway. This occurred for hours before and after midnight.

The local councillors and council officers sleep soundly at night, while the long-suffering residents have no choice but continue to endure the situation.

Despite being in a PSPO area, it seems to make no difference without proper enforcement. The Police don’t have the resources. The council don’t have the resources. The councillors don’t want to SHOW they are doing ANYTHING unless it is for a PR video or canvassing.

One day? After countless years of waiting, the residents have lost hope in their elected representatives and don't hold high expectations for the future.

Call 101. You are likely to hanging on the phone for an hour. Is it an emergency? In that case you are NEVER going to get a response within the hour. But 2 or 3 hours later, the problem may have subsided.

Report it online? Can you just say “dogs regular barking at night at junction of Southall roadway/Abbotts Road”? No, you have to very specify exactly who is causing the problem.

How many people. Age. Sex. Drink. Drugs. Cars. Noise. Duration.

It was only Tuesday night yesterday, not even the weekend. Regular nightly visits from the police or council cannot be expected, and relying on the councillors for any action seems like a joke.

ASB behavior is not limited to Southall Broadway alone, as other areas also suffer from such incidents.

The issues are well-known, and it's frustrating to keep reporting them repeatedly without any action being taken. Unfortunately, if reporting stops due to nothing being done, it doesn't mean the problem has been solved. The reality is that Southall has very few elected representatives who are genuinely committed to representing the residents. Instead, many of them seem more interested in maintaining their positions and enjoying the perks that come with being VIPs.

Might as well mention a few other issues specific to Southall Broadway, such as the loud music and car revving that disturbs residents at night, as well as the filthy bins that only get cleaned by rain.

Additionally, many shops obstruct the pavements with their advertising signs, and the stalls on the shop fronts are selling on the pavement despite the supposed expansion of pavement space.

It's not uncommon to see cars parked on pavements with people loitering around them, as well as cars parked in the middle of the road. Even Police Inspector Leigh Ballard raised this issue at a recent meeting in Southall Town Hall.

It's disappointing to note that there are no signs in shop windows asking people not to park on the pavement, and it's unlikely that our elected representatives would take any action on this issue. Printing a few leaflets is too expensive and putting them in shop windows is asking too much.

"Oi, you are NOT allowed to do that". What the councillors could do in 2 minutes would take the council bureaucracy more than 2 months to get round to.

Anyone willing to speak up for the long suffering residents of southall?
