The family run Brilliant Restaurant on Western Road, Southall was named among the country’s ten best restaurants at the prestigious British Curry Awards.

The biggest event in the curry calendar, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Cardnet, was attended by more than 1,100 restauranteurs, MPs, diplomats and celebrity guests. TV and radio celebrity Chris Tarrant hosted the awards ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 21 October 2007.

The 10 regional winners were chosen from a 100-strong shortlist.

The Brilliant Restaurant won the award as the best in Greater London & Suburbs.

La Porte des Indes won the award as best restaurant in London Central and the City.

Dipna Anand, 23, daughter of the owner Gulu, 52, only recently reached the final in the Retail, Food & Franchise Category of the Lloyds TSB Jewel Award. She has also created a complete menu of delicious low-fat recipes for her father’s restaurant.
