A police officer has been cleared of multiple charges linked to an alleged assault incident that occurred in April 2023.

The charges stemmed from an incident on 1 April 2023, where a man sustained injuries in Church Avenue, Southall. He was off duty at the time.

He was arrested a few weeks later, on 21 April 2023, and charged with assault and perverting the course of justice.

The charge of perverting the course of justice relates to allegations of attempting to contact witnesses associated with his assault case.

Following a trial at Isleworth Crown Court, PC Bilal Naveed, from the North East Area Command, has been acquitted of assault charges.

On Friday, 26 January 2024, he was found not guilty of actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.

With criminal proceedings concluded, misconduct matters concerning PC Naveed will now be assessed. He remains suspended from duty.
