Fundraiser in memory of 8-year-old involved in fatal collision

Fri 01 Mar 2024
The young boy who tragically lost his life after being struck by a lorry on King Street, Southall, has been identified as Gurniwaz Singh.

Police were called at 18:20 hrs on evening of Friday 23 February 2024 to reports of the collision in King Street.

Initial treatment was provided at the scene by paramedics and the air ambulance team, before promptly transporting the child to the hospital. The boy was pronounced dead at 9.47pm, despite the efforts of doctors and nurses.

The 8-year-old was a student at Featherstone Primary School.

After numerous kind offers of help from the whole community, Des Lee the Headteacher at Featherstone Primary & Nursery School set up a GoFundMe page in memory of Gurniwaz to raise £10,000.

Most of the funds collected will go directly to his family, offering essential support for funeral arrangements and other expenses during this profoundly difficult time.

A portion of your generous donations will be allocated towards establishing a lasting memorial within the school premises, ensuring that Gurniwaz is remembered and honoured.

Des Lee said: "Gurniwaz was a lovely, happy, loving boy who will be sadly missed by his family, friends, the school and the whole community."

Gill Pharmacy set up another fundraising page with the goal of raising £10,000 to support the family.
