Suspect arrested after woman critically injured in Southall collision

Detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman sustained critical injuries in a road traffic collision in Southall.

Initially, on Thursday 9th May 2024, detectives issued an appeal seeking assistance in confirming the woman's identity.

They now believe they know who she is and the process of informing her next of kin is still underway.

The incident occurred near the junction of Healum Avenue with Merrick Road just after midnight on Thursday 9th May 2024.

The victim, an Asian woman in her 20s, was dressed in light-coloured bottoms, a light-coloured top, and sandals at the time of the collision.

The vehicle involved fled the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital and remains in critical condition.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Friday 10th May 2024 and he remains in custody.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves said: "Though an arrest has been made, we still need to hear from anyone who might have seen events leading up to and at the time of the collision."

"The woman was dressed in light coloured bottoms, light coloured top and wearing sandals. If you saw her around the area please contact us, especially if you have dash or doorbell camera footage - it could prove vital for us."
