Wheelie bins for Southall residents

Sat 10 Nov 2007
Ealing Council has started distributing brand new wheelie bins to nearly 15,000 homes in Southall.

The free bins are only being rolled out in the Southall area. In last years consultation six of Ealing borough’s seven areas decided to keep black sacks, while parts of Southall opted for wheelie bins.

The standard 240 litre wheelie holds approximately three to four full black sacks have to be emptied using a special refuse truck. Residents can’t start using their new bins until November 19, when the new lorries come into service. Until then residents should continue to use black sacks.

Large families who want an additional wheelie bin or a families wanting a smaller 180 litre bins will be able to do so.
Residents are requested not to put the bins on the street on collection day.
People who are physically unable to move their bin to the front of their property can call the Council on 020 8825 6000 to request an assisted collection.

Some homes in the wheelie bin area, where wheelie bin collection is not practical will continue to receive a black sack collection.
