Thu 15 Aug 2024Arman Sadarkheel, 18, helped his parents fight their landlord who wanted to make the family of six homeless, while studying for exams in maths, biology and chemistry at Villiers High School in Ealing, west London.
The family are originally from Afghanistan but came to the U.K. via Dubai.
Alongside revision he had to deal with constant email and phone calls to the housing agent as his parents don’t speak English.
Villiers High School, rated outstanding by Ofsted, scored among the best results in the country with 72 per cent of students received A* to C grades in their A Levels.
He said: "I have four siblings and I'm the eldest. It was very stressful and my family was very supportive - there were days when they could see I was busy with my studies."
"The notice was from a private landlord and we had been in the house six years. The eviction is still ongoing. I did research and learnt that we are not obligated to leave until we get a court order."
"My head of year would come and check up on me and told me that if there were any issues to come and talk to me."
"My family are originally from Afghanistan. I’m the first in my family to do A levels, I’m the first to hopefully go into university."
"My family were really supportive - anything I needed they got me. My dad is a taxi driver. They are very happy and very proud of me."
