When will Southall celebrate Eid ul Fitr 2025?

The fact that the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar is widely known, which means that the date for Eid is determined by the sighting of the moon, making it impractical to pre-select a date.
Similar to any other month, the month of Ramadan can last for 29 or 30 days, determined by the visibility of the moon. Muslims across the globe will seek a moonset shortly after sunset on the 29th day, which falls on Saturday 29th March 2025 (for those who started Ramadhan on Saturday 1 March 2025).
If the moon is visible, they will celebrate Eid the following day, which will be Sunday 30th March 2025. In the event that the moon crescent is not sighted, Ramadan will last for 30 days, and Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Monday 31st March 2025.
The London Central Mosque has just announced that "Sunday 30 March 2025 is the Day of Eid ul-Fitr and the 1st of Shawwal 1446 Hijri." All of Southall will be celebrating on Sunday 30 March 2025.
The London Central Mosque follows the unreliable moon sightings from Saudi Arabia and a significant number of mosques in the UK tend to follow suit without question. There was little chance of a moon sighting today.
According to moonsighting.org.uk "The crescent visibility map below for Shawwal 1446 (RHS) shows that the moon will be born on 29 March 2025 at 10:58 GMT/UT, but it will not be visible by the naked eye anywhere in the UK to Morocco region on that date. However, on 30 March 2025, the moon may be easily seen in the UK and in most parts of the world. Hence, the month of Shawwal is most likely to start on 31 March 2025, InShaAllah."
The British government have provided information for the sighting of the moon for the marking of Eid ul-fitr 2025.
According their data, it will not be possible for the moon to be sighted in the UK or Saudi Arabia on Saturday night, meaning Eid cannot be on Sunday 30 march 2025. They state "It is unlikely that any sort of sighting of the crescent moon will be possible on March 29th from the Middle East, North Africa, the United Kingdom and the eastern seaboard of the United States in particular".
Sighting the moon crescent is only possible in good weather after 16 hours of a new moon. However, the Saudi authorities are often deemed to be untrustworthy in their sightings, claiming to have observed the moon much earlier than the rest of the world.

The Police advised that "EID celebrations will be taking place in Southall this evening (Saturday). Please expect large crowds and heavy traffic along Uxbridge Road. Policing teams are on duty to ensure the safety for all in attendance. Happy EID."
Southall and Southall Broadway is well known for very bad traffic congestion. The festivities and issues will start on Saturday evening and resume on Sunday evening. Find alternatives routes of travel.
Celebrating on Southall Broadway and disturbing the local residents at night is not the way to celebrate Eid-ul_Fitr. The proper place is with family and friends or the mosque.
Before the Eid prayer, a fitrana (charitable donation) must be given before the end of the month of Ramadan, for the love of Almighty. It is obligatory on every self-supporting adult Muslim who has food in excess of their needs. It is to provide food for the needy. The monetary value (of the food) is approximately £5. This amount needs to be paid for EVERY member of the household.
A lot of (lazy) people leave it to the last minute and hand over the money before the Eid prayers. There is is no way it can reach the poor people in time for Eid.

The Saudi government strictly follows the fixed Umm al-Qura calendar and does not deviate from it. That does not involve any moon sighting and sets the first day of Shawwal and Eid for Sunday 30 March 2025.
UK astronomers confirm that the moon will not be visible in Britain or the Middle East on Saturday, even with a telescope.
Saudi Arabia has announced that the moon has been sighted today However, this raises serious concerns, as a solar eclipse occurred on today, making it astronomically impossible to see the moon anywhere in the world in the evening.
Interestingly, this year, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt did not follow Saudi’s declaration and have instead announced Eid for Monday
Oman has also declared Eid for Monday, as they often rely on their own local moon sightings.
