Southall shooting victim jailed for three months
Thu 22 Nov 2007A Southall man has been jailed for three months for refusing to tell the truth about an incident, in which he was shot last year.
Sanjeev Bhanot, 29, was almost killed when a bullet tore through his stomach last year in the north London suburb of Harrow. He spent eight hours on the operating table as the result of the incident on 19th June 2006.
Bhanot gave a false name, age and address to the investigating detectives. He also invented two different stories about the shooting and who was there at the time.
His final story was that helping police catch his attacker would put his and his family’s life in danger.
He pleaded guilty to one count of perverting the course of justice and was jailed for 3 months.
