Greggs closes doors on Southall Broadway after over 20 years

Tue 15 Jul 2025
Bakery chain Greggs has closed its long-standing Southall branch at 43 The Broadway, ending more than two decades of serving the community.

The shop, known for its sausage rolls, pastries, and hot drinks, closed on 7 July 2025. Greggs did not disclose the reasons behind the closure but confirmed that staff from the location have been moved to other nearby stores.

The decision has left local residents and representatives disappointed. One longtime customer shared on social media:

“I will miss Greggs & their yum yums. I wore their sponsorship football shirt in the olde days. Don’t leave Southall cos of the unlicensed street food vendors, hawkers all making a mess on Southall Broadway.”

Ealing Southall MP Deirdre Costigan also expressed her reaction online, lamenting the closure on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter):

“Greggs, say it isn’t so! Just heard you’re closing a store in my patch and we’ll miss you dearly. Your vegan sausage roll got me through more than a few long days, and the Mexican bean wrap? A thing of beauty. Surely Southall’s not off the menu for good?”

The Southall Greggs had become a familiar spot for local residents and shoppers over the years, and its closure marks the departure of another major national chain from the area.
