Ealing GCSE 2025: Strong Results, Southall Shines

Ealing borough has once again outperformed national and London averages in this year’s GCSE results.

Early provisional data shows that 83.9% of pupils secured grade 4 or above in English, while 78.2% achieved the same in Maths—well above the national averages of 60% and 58%, and London’s averages of 64% and 61% respectively.

Approximately 74.4% of students achieved at least grade 4 in both English and Maths, matching last year’s figure of 74.0%.

Southall Schools Shine

Villiers High School in Southall celebrated an exceptional year with top-performing students achieving outstanding grades. One such pupil, Musa Kamara—who commuted for over two hours daily—earned five grade 9s and five grade 8s, securing a place at St Thomas the Apostle College.

Other students at Villiers also excelled:

  • Jibril Elmi achieved straight 9–8 grades and will continue to Villiers Sixth Form
  • Yash Sangani, another Southall student, attained all 9s and 8s, praising the support from his teachers
  • Jai Bhandari, also from Southall, achieved one grade 9 and eight 8s and aims to study aerospace engineering)

Featherstone High School recorded another impressive set of GCSE results this year. Headteacher Nathan Walter praised both staff and students for their dedication, noting that the school’s top 20 pupils averaged above grade 8. Overall, 80% of students scored grade 4 or higher in English, and 73% reached the same benchmark in maths. Departments including science, art, and computer science delivered particularly strong outcomes.

Results day was filled with pride and celebration. Many students achieved top grades across a wide range of subjects, while others earned a mix of high marks despite personal challenges. Straight 9s were common among top performers, reflecting both academic ability and perseverance within the school community.

Individual achievements highlighted Featherstone’s success. One outstanding student, Harshit, earned eight grade 9s and one grade 8, while Amrita Jezewska-Singh achieved five grade 9s and five grade 8s. These results underscore the school’s high academic standards and the continued commitment of staff and pupils as students prepare for A-levels or vocational pathways.

Borough-Wide Highlights

  • At St Augustine’s, top grades were achieved across subjects like Computing, Economics, French, Further Maths, Latin, and Russian, with 100% scoring grades 7–9
  • Notting Hill & Ealing High School also delivered high results, with over 54% of entries earning grade 9, 82% achieving grade 9 or 8, and 93% scoring between grade 9 to 7.

Contextual Perspective

These provisional results confirm that Ealing is maintaining high academic standards across the borough, with particular excellence emerging from Southall schools. The achievements of dedicated students like Musa Kamara underscore the resilience and ambition driving these strong outcomes
