More Elizabeth Line trains for Southall, Hanwell and Acton

Fri 30 Jan 2026
Transport for London (TfL) has announced an increase in Elizabeth line services at Southall, Hanwell and Acton Main Line, with three additional weekday morning trains stopping at each station from Monday 18 May 2026.

The changes form part of the May 2026 timetable update and are aimed at reducing crowding during the morning peak. Under the revised timetable, trains running from Heathrow Terminal 5 between 07:30 and 09:00 will make extra stops at the three west London stations.

Between 08:00 and 09:00, Southall will be served by ten trains per hour, Hanwell by six, and Acton Main Line by eight, providing increased capacity for commuters travelling into central London.

TfL said the changes follow a review with Network Rail as part of its regular timetable planning. Passengers are advised to check journey times, as minor adjustments may be made elsewhere on the line.

Trish Ashton, TfL’s Director of Rail, said the Elizabeth line carries around 800,000 passengers on an average weekday, adding that the additional services would help improve comfort during the busiest times.

The update builds on earlier service increases introduced in December 2025 and comes as TfL prepares for future demand growth, including additional trains currently being built with UK Government funding.

Reacting to the announcement, Greater London Assembly member Bassam Mahfouz said residents had long called for increased services at Acton Main Line, Hanwell and Southall.

"Residents have been clear: Acton Main Line, Hanwell and Southall need more trains."

"I’ve been pushing for exactly that and today's announcement delivers. This is a big win for commuters across Acton, Hanwell and Southall, matching the seismic surge in demand since the game-changing Elizabeth line opened."
