Southall Pub licence suspended following enforcement action
Fri 27 Mar 2026
The premises, known as the Old Oak Tree and located on The Common, came under investigation in late 2025 after reports of activity taking place outside permitted hours.
Authorities carried out a warrant in November 2025, where they discovered several individuals believed to be in breach of visa conditions. Some were reportedly staying at the venue for extended periods.
During the operation, officers also encountered a group outside the premises suspected of anti-social behaviour, including alcohol consumption and possible drug use. Police requested additional support due to the situation, and a weapon was later recovered nearby. Several arrests were made.
Officials noted that the venue had previously attracted attention from authorities. Earlier inspections over the years had raised concerns about unlicensed activities and management practices. Past incidents included complaints about entertainment taking place without proper authorisation and issues relating to security staffing.
Further enforcement visits in recent years identified additional concerns linked to immigration compliance and occupancy of rooms on-site. Authorities reported that multiple individuals found during checks did not meet visa requirements.
The licensing committee also reviewed complaints from local residents, including repeated reports of noise disturbances. On several occasions, officers observed groups gathering outside the venue late at night.
Representatives for the premises stated that checks were carried out on guests and that steps had been taken to address previous issues, including management changes and pest control measures. However, some of these claims were challenged during the hearing.
Following a review, the local council decided to suspend the venue’s licence for three months. After this period, the business will be allowed to reopen under stricter conditions set by the licensing authority.
These measures include implementing a formal noise management plan, keeping doors and windows closed after certain hours, and making changes to outdoor arrangements.
The council has also requested that the operators introduce an improvement plan to ensure compliance with licensing and legal requirements moving forward.
