Southall mosque donates £15,000 of aid to Bangladesh
Wed 26 Dec 2007The Abu Bakr mosque on Southall Broadway raised and distributed aid worth £15,000 to the victims of the Bangladesh floods.
The money was donated by the mosque congregation. This was in response to the devastating affects of cyclone Sidr that struck the southern coast of Bangladesh last month. Around 3,500 people died and a similar number are missing.
Thousands of villages were ravaged, leaving homes and crops totally destroyed.
Homes were completely washed away by flood water or crushed by huge trees blown down by the 150mph winds.
Millions of residents were made homeless and are at risk of starvation and disease.
If any one wishes to donate to this worthy cause, they can do so via the Abu Bakr mosque or via any other charity. If you have a local news story, share it with the rest of Southall, by using the contact form.
