Clamping in Operation at Iceland Car Park

Mon 04 Feb 2008
An unsuspecting motorist had to pay £404 for parking at the Iceland car park in Southall.

The Iceland car park on South Road, Southall is a normal pay and display car park during its hours of operation. Shoppers can get a refund for the minimum £2 ticket, from Iceland or Quality Foods, if they spend at least £5 on shopping.

But, if you are parked there after 8pm you could get clamped and be forced to pay £400.

Mr. Aziz Hussain was just another unfortunate victim of the “cowboy clamping” companies that operate in the borough of Ealing. He left his car in the car park after 8pm on Friday 1st February. It was clamped and towed away to a “remote place in Uxbridge”. He had to pay £404 to get it back.

He does not wish to see any one else “fall into the same trap”.

Don’t even think of parking at McDonalds on Southall Broadway and going shopping elsewhere. You will get clamped.

Thinking of a Halal Chicken Meal from McDonalds? It does not meet the Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC) standards. It is certified by the Halal Food Authority (HFA). What’s more, McDonalds outlets can't even guarantee that their fish burgers are halal.

Do these clamping companies take pleasure in persecuting people?

Or is it, that the people who employ them (Iceland and/or Quality Foods) have no sympathy for the victims, who are most likely their customers?

Or do they split the profit/money/blame 50-50?
