Boy abandoned in Southall kidnapped from India?

Tue 25 Mar 2008
A nine year old Sikh boy, Gurrinder Singh, was abandoned in Southall on Tuesday, March 18.

The boy who was found in a clinic in Harrington Road can only speak Punjabi. He came to Southall on a "bendy-bus", possibly on the 207 from Shepherds Bush to Hayes.

His uncle left him at the bus stop and did not come back for him. The uncle is described as a white man in his 30s, with whom he had lived for three years. He also said that his parents were dead.

The local community are shocked and puzzled by the situation.

It is very strange for a boy not to know where he is or what he was doing in the last few years apart from watching TV.

Human traffickers do not bring children over to watch TV.

Watch TV and speak no English!

After seeing pictures of the boy on a TV channel, a family in the north Indian state of Bihar has claimed that he is their son, Sintu, who was kidnapped in 2005.

Although Sintu was never found, four people were charged with kidnap and are currently awaiting trial.

Gurrinder has a distinctive mole on his left cheek while Shintu did not have one, although they can come out at anytime.

Without a DNA test on a parent and the child, it is very difficult to arrive at any conclusion.

Anyone with any information should Ealing Missing Persons Unit on 020 8236 1040, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
