Southall shocked by Shoaib's ban
Wed 02 Apr 2008The British Pakistani community will be gathering for a protest meeting against the 5 year ban on Shoaib Akhtar.
Pakistan's premier bowler, 32, was banned for 5 years for publicly criticising the Pakistan Cricket Board at a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.
A 5 year ban from international and domestic cricket will literally ends his career.
Dalawar Chaudhry of Chaudhrys’s TKC in Southall, who has been affiliated with the Pakistan Cricket Team in the past and presently, feels that the manner in which Shoaib has been treated is “deplorable to say the least”.
“The penalty imposed is unsubstantiated and deplorable, based entirely on personal clashes.”
He is organising a meeting for tomorrow evening at his restaurant and wants supporters to unite with the British Pakistanis from the cricket fraternity and voice their support against this ban.If you have a local news story, share it with the rest of Southall, by using the contact form.
